NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENT: Formula totals for last week were mixed, higher in the
South, but lower in Nebraska: KS 80,295(+1,736), NE 49,167(-2,031), TX
87,471(+3,054). Total trade volume is mixed, higher in Kansas, somewhat
higher in Texas, but lower Nebraska: KS 89,291(+1,377), NE 69,301(-
4,315), TX 92,300(+341). New showlists appear to be mixed, higher in
Kansas, but lower in Texas and Nebraska/Colorado. Bids and asking prices
have yet to be established, and significant trade volume will likely be
delayed until well in to the second half of the week.
New record highs were set last week on both live and dress sales: Live -
TX 212.00(209.69); KS 212.54(209.86); NE 217.68(213.70): IA 217.19
(213.03); 5-Area live steer 216.32(212.76). the prior record highs are
listed in parentheses. Dressed - KS 340.00(335.00); NE 342.19(338.84); IA
340.47(337.09).
Beef cutouts are significantly higher at midday (Choice 341.62 +5.14,
Select 323.85 +3.74), with very light box movement (19.78 lds of choice
cuts, 6.29 lds of select cuts, 5.92 lds of trim, and 4.61 lds of ground).
Live cattle contracts over the noon hour are mostly moderately to sharply
higher, while feeder issues are mixed mostly lower.
